Vibrating Dewatering Machine

Vibrating dewatering machine removing surface water from washed vegetables

Vibrating screen dewaterer that strips free surface water off washed, blanched or thawed product before it enters a dryer, fryer or freezer.

How it works

Product is spread onto a perforated or wedge-wire deck that is driven by a pair of counter-rotating vibratory motors. The vibration lifts and throws the product forward in small steps, and each landing breaks the water film off the surface while the apertures let water fall through to a collection pan. Because the bed is thin and constantly turned over, water leaves both the product surface and the spaces between pieces.

An optional air-knife bar above the deck removes the last film, and on leafy product this is often the difference between dewatered and merely drained.

Suitable for

Leafy greens and salad mixes after washing; sliced or diced vegetables after blanching; product leaving a bubble or spray washer; thawed product before further processing; any stage where free water would otherwise load a dryer or dilute a fryer.

Not suitable for

Product that must stay submerged or wet for quality reasons; very delicate pieces that break up under vibration; product with water held inside the tissue, which surface dewatering cannot remove; sticky or pureed material that will blind the deck.

Material & compliance

Deck, side frames and collection pan in SUS304 (EN 1.4301); SUS316L (EN 1.4404) on request for saline product. Perforations deburred, welds ground smooth, Ra <= 0.8 um on contact surfaces. Deck removable without tools for washdown.

Supplied with CE declaration of conformity and DoC on request; material certificate EN 10204 3.1 available for contact parts.

Selection notes

Ask for a measured residual moisture figure rather than a percentage claim, because dewatering performance depends on product geometry more than on the machine. Check the deck aperture against your smallest cut piece — too large and pieces fall through, too small and water cannot escape. Confirm the deck lifts out for cleaning; a fixed deck is a sanitation problem on leafy lines.

When you should not buy this machine: If the water you need to remove is inside the product rather than on it, a vibrating deck will not help — you need a centrifuge or a dryer stage. Also skip it if your product is fragile: vibration damage on soft berries or cooked pieces is worse than the water you remove.

Key specifications

Specification values are industry-typical ranges for this machine class and are not verified against a specific factory datasheet. Replace them with measured factory data before publication.

FAQ

Can a vibrating dewaterer replace a centrifuge?

For surface water on most cut and leafy product, yes, and it is gentler. For water held in tissue or between dense pieces, a centrifuge removes more. If your downstream dryer is overloaded, test both on your own product before choosing.

Why does my product still look wet after dewatering?

Usually because the bed is too deep. Dewatering works on a thin, actively turned layer; overloading the deck keeps water trapped between pieces. Reduce feed rate or widen the deck rather than increasing vibration amplitude.

Does it damage soft product?

More than a centrifuge and less than nothing at all. Soft berries and cooked pieces can bruise at high amplitude. Run at the lowest amplitude that still moves the bed.
