Steam Peeling Machine

Steam peeling system that loosens skins with high-pressure steam, giving lower peel loss than abrasive methods on root crops.
How it works
Product is charged into a pressure vessel (batch) or passes through a continuous steam tunnel. High-pressure steam heats the surface layer rapidly; when pressure is released, the loosened skin separates and is removed by wash water or gentle brushing. Steam pressure and exposure time control peel depth.
Suitable for
Potato, carrot, beetroot, sweet potato and other root crops where yield matters; lines supplying fries, chips or puree.
Not suitable for
Thin-skinned fruit; products that cannot tolerate surface cooking; low-capacity plants without steam supply.
Material & compliance
Pressure vessel in stainless steel (SUS304, EN 1.4301); contact surfaces Ra <= 0.8 um. Vessel built and documented as a pressure vessel under the applicable local regulation.
Pressure vessel documentation and CE/PED conformity as applicable; EN 10204 3.1 for the vessel material; DoC; steam condensate handling per hygienic design.
Selection notes
Steam peeling is chosen for yield, not for low capital cost — the vessel and steam supply cost more than a brush peeler. Confirm your boiler capacity matches steam demand at peak load, and ask about condensate and peelings handling, which is the usual bottleneck.
When you should not buy this machine: Do not buy steam peeling without reliable steam supply; a boiler upgrade usually costs more than the peeler. Skip it for low-volume or seasonal lines where the vessel cannot be kept busy.

FAQ
Why choose steam peeling over brush peeling?
Mainly for peel loss. Steam loosens the skin rather than abrading it, so less edible product is removed — relevant when raw material cost is high.
What does it need from my plant?
A steam supply sized for peak demand, plus condensate and peelings handling. These usually matter more to the total project than the peeler itself.
Does it cook the product surface?
Briefly, yes — the surface layer is heated to loosen the skin. For most root crops going to frying or puree this is accepted; for fresh-cut it may not be.
