Leafy Vegetable Cutting Machine

Belt-fed guillotine cutter that cuts leafy greens, herbs, spring onion and other long product to a set length, producing a clean cut rather than the torn edge a rotary knife leaves on soft material.
How it works
Product is laid by hand or by a feeding conveyor onto an infeed belt that carries it under a hold-down belt and past a vertically reciprocating knife. The knife descends through the product against a cutting edge, and the belt indexes forward between strokes. Cut length is set by belt advance per stroke, so length change is a belt-speed adjustment rather than a blade change.
The hold-down belt matters: without compression the product moves as the knife enters, and the cut becomes ragged.
Suitable for
Spinach, lettuce, cabbage and other leafy greens; herbs and sprouts; spring onion, leek and celery; long vegetables for soup mixes, salads and frozen packs; product where cut appearance drives value.
Not suitable for
Root vegetables and firm fruit, which need a rotary or centrifugal cutter; frozen product; material that exudes a lot of liquid when cut, because it blinds the belt; product needing a dice or a shaped cut.
Material & compliance
Knife, cutting edge, belts and frame in SUS304 (EN 1.4301); food-grade belting. Knife guard interlocked so the cutter cannot run with the guard open. Knife and belt removable without tools for cleaning.
Supplied with CE declaration of conformity and DoC on request; material certificate EN 10204 3.1 available for contact parts.
Selection notes
Test on your own product and inspect the cut edge, not just the length — bruising and ragged edges show up hours later as browning on the pack. Ask how the knife is removed and sharpened, because a knife that needs a fitter will not be maintained. Check whether the infeed belt can be washed in place.
When you should not buy this machine: If your product is firm and round, a guillotine is the wrong mechanism; use a rotary slicer or dicer. Also skip it if you need very short cuts at very high throughput — the reciprocating stroke limits rate, and a rotary cutter will be faster even if the cut is less clean.

FAQ
Why do my cut leaves go brown quickly?
Usually knife damage rather than length. A dull or incorrectly set knife crushes cell walls instead of slicing them, and the damaged edge oxidises. Sharpen or reset the knife before changing anything else.
Can I cut cabbage and spring onion on the same machine?
Usually yes, but the hold-down pressure and belt speed differ a lot between a dense head and a light stalk. Expect to reset between products, and confirm the cut length range covers both.
How short can it cut?
Down to roughly 10 mm on most designs. Below that the product begins to crush rather than cut, and output drops because the belt advance per stroke becomes very small.
