Weight Grading Machine
Automatic weight grader that sorts whole fruits and vegetables into size or weight classes with programmable grade limits.
How it works
Product is singulated onto individual weighing cups or buckets carried by a conveyor. Each cup passes over a load cell that measures weight; the control system compares the reading to the programmed grade limits and discharges the product at the corresponding outlet. Grade limits and outlet assignment are set on the control panel.
Suitable for
Apple, pear, citrus, potato, onion, tomato, mango — any whole product sold or processed by weight class.
Not suitable for
Small pieces or cut product that cannot be singulated; products needing defect or colour sorting (that requires optical sorting, not weight).
Material & compliance
Cups, buckets and product-contact surfaces SUS304 (EN 1.4301) or food-grade polymer; frame stainless. Contact surfaces Ra <= 0.8 um where product contact is metallic.
CE declaration and DoC; EN 10204 3.1 for stainless contact parts; hygienic design with washdown capability; load cell calibration documentation.
Selection notes
Accuracy and throughput trade off against each other — higher speed means less settling time and lower accuracy. Decide which matters for your product first. Check how grade limits are set and whether the machine can store recipes per product, because plants running several products change grades often.
When you should not buy this machine: Do not buy a weight grader if your real problem is defects, colour or disease — weight grading cannot see those and you need an optical sorter. Also avoid it for cut or small product that cannot be reliably singulated.

Can it grade by size as well as weight?
It grades by weight. Since weight and size correlate for uniform product, weight grading is often used as a size proxy, but it is still a weight measurement.
How many grades can I set?
Most machines allow several programmable classes with adjustable limits, set on the control panel and often stored as recipes per product.
Does accuracy drop at higher speed?
Yes. Faster conveying leaves less time for the load cell reading to stabilise, so accuracy and throughput must be balanced for your product.
